It's all in the Meat

A surprised customer tasted the samples of biltong on our shop counter this week and a look of rapture passed across his face – “Ai maar dis baie lekker. Dit smaak net soos jy in Suid Afrika kry, ag nee dis beter” – As an Afrikaans speaking gentleman of mature years, he knew a lot about the meat used on farms and we discussed the history and process of biltong making. He agreed that British beef and even Scottish beef, just has not got the right texture necessary for good biltong, so as soon as he learned that our biltong is made with Australian beef, he decided that must be the reason our biltong was better than others he had tried in UK, because he found the difference in flavour and texture was very obvious. He immediately suggested a new motto for our biltong – It is not just any biltong, it is great Trekkers biltong!

EU Customers

Yes, we can send biltong and other products to countries that are part of the EU. Yes, we send parcels out regularly to EU countries but unfortunately we also have to replace parcels quite regularly too. Customs officials are sometimes ill-informed or over-zealous at their jobs or the postal officials are not as efficient as we would hope – the bottom line is that our customer pays for the goods, we supply them but they do not reach their correct destination.

As we cannot control this situation, even though we do have an EU Approved premises mark on our goods, we have now been forced to charge an additional £2.00 on postage to EU countries. This means that EU parcels will now be sent 1st Class ‘Signed for’ mail at the customers’ risk.

‘n Woord in Jou Oor

So, kry vir jou ‘n satsumatjie of ‘n clementine of wat hulle dit ookal hier noem.

Haak hom, Bokkies!

Tailpiece

Saturday morning I got up early, like every Saturday, quietly dressed, made my lunch, grabbed
the dog, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked the boat up to
the truck, and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind
was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio,
and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.

I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed.
I cuddled up to my wife's back, now with a different anticipation, and
whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."

My loving wife of 10 years replied, "Can you believe my stupid husband is
out fishing in that?"

And that's how the fight started ...
